Fantasmi a Torino

Era la fine di marzo del 1811.

Il grigio della pioggia strideva con i bagliori rossastri che languivano quella che oggi conosciamo come Piazza Castello.

Pareva quasi che le lingue di fuoco minacciassero Palazzo Reale e gli edifici adiacenti. I torinesi correvano avanti e indietro con secchi d’acqua sperando di spegnere l’incendio il prima possibile.

Quello che stava bruciando era un padiglione risalente al 1662 che aveva un porticato a colonne arricchito con statue allegoriche ed era destinato, oltre ospitare il corpo di guardia del palazzo, alle ostensioni della Sindone.

Nella gran confusione che regnava molti cercarono di mettere in salvo quanto potevano.

Fu così che, in uno scantinato in via della Zecca (Via Verdi), fu trovata una cassetta contente un taccuino.

Si trattava di un manoscritto, in gran parte illeggibile, con la data che pareva essere del 1756. Un bizzarro lunario con annotate profezie che avrebbero dovuto avverarsi verso il 1778. Due eclissi, la scomparsa di un importante prelato e soprattutto “la presenza di persone invisibili che avrebbero turbato la cittadinanza”.

In effetti, il 4 marzo 1778, moriva l’arcivescovo di Torino, Francesco Luserna di Rorà, ad appena quarantasei anni.

Per prevedere le due eclissi era sufficiente un calcolo astronomico, tuttavia ….

… poco di prima di Natale in una casa, in via delle Maschere, non lontana dalla chiesa di San Domenico, iniziarono a manifestarsi strani fenomeni. Bottiglie, bicchieri e suppellettili che senza essere stati toccati da nessuno si spostavano e s’infrangevano contro le pareti.

I clienti terrorizzati scappavano da quel luogo sinistro ripromettendosi di non tornare più.

Impossibile nei giorni nostri rintracciare via delle Maschere. Questa via legata a uno dei primi fenomeni “d’infestazione” si apriva di un labirinto di stradine contorte, a volte semplici vicoli con nomi che per lo più si riferivano a mestieri.

Non sappiamo da chi sia stato scritto il taccuino: un astronomo, un preveggente, un buontempone?

Sappiamo solo che quella fu la prima volta che a Torino si parlò di fantasmi.
