La magia verde nacque in tempi antichissimi. L’uomo primitivo trovandosi tra il verde delle foglie riparato dalla chioma ombrosa degli alberi, percepiva una sorta di protezione.

Lo studio delle arti dei periodi più remoti, l’esame dei prodotti artigianali e delle condizioni di vita dei nostri progenitori, ha permesso di notare un legame ininterrotto di credenze e rituali che dal lontano paleolitico sono giunte sino alla nostra epoca.

I primi templi degli uomini primitivi furono i boschi e gli antri; secondo gli uomini primitivi il moto era vita e dove c’era vita vi era spirito.
Gli alberi crescono, fioriscono, producono frutti, gemono, intristiscono e muoiono.

Si diffuse quindi la credenza che gli alberi avessero un’anima. Credenza che fu condivisa anche dai primi filosofi greci per via dei movimenti e dei suoni che fanno gli alberi. Successivamente lo spirito dell’albero fu incarnato nell’essere umano la cui vita e vigoria governavano quella di tutta la vegetazione.

Ciò si collega ad un gran numero di riti che avevano, ed ancor hanno, un rapporto con il culto della vita degli alberi, alle offerte e alla credenza negli alberi come oracoli e indovini.

La profetessa Debora era solita dare i suoi responsi seduta sotto una palma, che la tradizione riteneva fosse la tomba della nutrice di Rachele.

Per i greci lo stormire delle foglie della sacra quercia di Giove era la voce del dio che parlava attraverso Dodona.

Il vischio è la pianta magica per eccellenza, Odino, per esempio, teneva in una mano un ramo di vischio quando addormentò Brunilde.

Plinio, il grande naturalista, definiva il vischio panaceam omnia sanantem e pensava che non solo guarisse il corpo, ma purificasse anche l’anima e producesse un sonno tranquillo.

Nell’Antica Roma si credeva che si potesse avere un buon raccolto soltanto invocando Madre Terra o Cerere.

Anche il culto di Diana aveva un suo valore. Ella veniva venerata come la dea dei boschi e quindi della natura, si credeva concedesse a uomini e donne la benedizione della prole.

Tutte le cose hanno un linguaggio occulto.

I popoli primitivi molto più sensibili di noi, questo lo sentivano e da questo pensiero nacquero le varie religioni rivolte alla Natura e alle Dee Madri.

Il linguaggio esoterico, come impercettibile soffio generato da una potente Volontà, tramandò nei secoli la Magia Verde.
