Triade tebana a Karnak

Collegata al tempio di Amon, sorgeva la dimora di Mut, sposa del grande dio tebano, celebrato in tutta la sua potenza dai faraoni della XVIII dinastia.

Un lungo viale sorvegliato dalle sfingi che lo costeggiavano conduceva al tempio della dea della maternità, chiamata anche “Madre delle madri”.

Alle volte Mut si presentava sotto forma di avvoltoio, infatti, il geroglifico usato per scrivere il nome della dea era proprio un avvoltoio, per questo motivo la madre, la regina o la sposa del faraone portava sul capo un diadema a forma di avvoltoio.

Anche a suo figlio Khonsu all’interno del santuario di Karnak era stato dedicato un tempio, si celebrava così la potente triade tebana.

All’interno del tempio sulle sponde in un piccolo lago a forma di ferro di cavallo Mut era invocata come “Signora di Isheru”.

L’acqua era un elemento importante per l’Antico Egitto.

Ogni tempio era caratterizzato dalla presenza di bacini, in genere rettangolari, contenti acque sacre che oltre ad essere usate per le cerimonie simboleggiavano l’eternità della vita nel suo rinnovamento ciclico.
