Iside era dea dell’agricoltura e della fertilità; ella considerava sacro quasi ogni cibo.
Le palme erano sacre sia a Iside che a Osiride, mentre i cuori della pianta non erano considerati un’offerta adeguata perché ai seguaci dei due dei era vietato distruggere un albero coltivato .
Pani di tutti i tipi erano tenuti in considerazione dagli egizi e costituivano offerte ideali.
Spesso venivano cotti in forme speciali proprio a tale scopo e si diceva che la stessa Iside cuocesse pagnotte votive per Osiride.
Per far sì che la dea udisse la preghiera del devoto si preparavano pagnotte rotonde, al centro delle quali, veniva tracciata la forma di piccole orecchie umane.
Erano anche usati, per le offerte, dei panini a mezzaluna … quindi se al mattino mangiate dei croissant sappiate che si tratta di un pane sacro per via delle sue connotazioni lunari.
La lattuga era considerata di natura sethiana, perciò era vietato al clero del tempo di File di cibarsene.
Il miele era spesso usato nelle offerte come ingrediente di incensi e medicamenti Iside, infatti, era associata alle api, uno dei suoi titoli era“Signora della casa delle api”.
Molti membri del clero seguivano diete vegetariane, altri si astenevano dal bere vino.
