Don Giulio, figlio primogenito di Rodolfo II e di Caterina Strada era talmente selvaggio che il padre fu costretto a confinarlo nel castello di Krumau. Cosa che fece felice Don Giulio che vi sistemò potendo fare la vita che più gli piaceva senza essere controllato
Si dice che la sua passione era la caccia, in realtà uccideva e seviziava gli animali con una tale ferocia che a Praga erano tutti disgustati di lui.
Non rispettava nessuno.
Un giorno incontrò la figlia del barbiere e se ne innamorò. La ragazza lusingata dalle attenzioni del figlio dell’Imperatore accettò di accompagnarlo per una passeggiata tra i boschi. Don Giulio immediatamente ne approfittò picchiando e violentando la ragazza, che riuscì quasi a fuggire, ma Rodolfo la inseguì con i suoi cani, la trovò e la portò al castello. Un mese terribile, tra sevizie e torture, passò prima che qualcuno osasse intervenire.
Anche se si sentivano le sue grida, nessuno del paese aveva il coraggio di salvarla oppure di chiamare qualcuno da Praga per avvertire Rodolfo, la sola persona che Don Giulio temeva.
Alla fine riuscirono a far fuggire la ragazza che subito si rifugiò dai suoi parenti. Dal castello giungevano le grida di Don Giulio, sempre più furioso e schiumante di rabbia che frugava nei dintorni della tenuta con i suoi cani, ma della fanciulla nemmeno l’ombra. Alla fine giunse a casa del barbiere, lo prese in ostaggio gridando ai famigliari che se la ragazza non fosse stata portata subito al castello, il padre sarebbe stato ucciso.
E loro riportarono la sventurata al castello.
Vedendo il principe che accoglieva la ragazza con tenerezza e rilasciava subito il padre, ingenui e creduloni, si tranquillizzarono subito. Il mattino seguente, dopo aver bussato invano alla porta in cui don Giulio si era rinchiuso con la ragazza, i suoi amici, compagni d’orge, sfondarono la porta ammutolendo di fronte alla scena che si parava ai loro occhi.
Solo il corpo mutilato rimaneva della giovane ragazza, che il pazzo don Giulio continuava ad abbracciare piangendo. Rodolfo non aveva mai considerato suo figlio sano di mente e quindi non lo condannò alla pena di morte ma lo rinchiuse in una stanza dello stesso castello.
Morì quattro mesi più tardi, non si sa se per i suoi eccessi o se qualcuno lo avesse ucciso per vendetta o per pietà
