REGINA SOBEKNEFERU

La regina Sobekneferu era un “horus-femmina”, un vero e proprio faraone donna.
Il suo nome significava “Bellezza di Sobek“, con riferimento al dio coccodrillo, simbolo di fertilità e allo stesso tempo di potenza della luce divina.
La regina era figlia di Amenemhat III e sorella ( o sorellastra o addirittura sposa) di Amenemhat IV. Il suo fu un regno breve che durò poco più di tre anni.
Di lei rimangono vari monumenti provenienti dall’area del Fayyum, ma si ignora ove sia la sua tomba anche se si pensa che potrebbe essere stata costruita a Mazghuna, vicino a quella attribuita ad Amenemhat IV.
La sua ascesa al trono non fu segnata da alcun conflitto all’interno del regno perchè Sobekneferu era considerata un faraone a tutti gli effetti.
La regina-coccodrillo chiuse la XII dinastia.
