SOLE
Il Sole è il più importante dei fenomeni celesti.
Molte sono le religioni che associano la divinità che vive nel cielo al Sole e con nomi diversi lo si invoca perché scacci le tenebre.
Nei testi babilonesi troviamo scritto:
”Colui che illumina il buio e rischiara il cielo, che in alto e in basso annienta il male”.
Il culto solare del dio egizio Ra si trasformò, con il faraone Akhenaton, in un sistema monoteistico.
Solo nell’Antico Testamento, in opposizione al culto solare pagano, il Sole è considerato semplicemente come uno dei due lumi che Dio pose nel firmamento.
Nell’iconografia cristiana il Sole, che sempre risorge a oriente, simboleggia l’immortalità e la resurrezione.
Nella cultura arcaica del Perù il Sole era considerato l’antenato divino della stirpe Inca. Garcilaso de la Vega così descrive il tempio del Sole che si trovava nella capitale Cuzco:
” Tutte e quattro le pareti erano ricoperte da cima a fondo di piastre e travi d’oro.
Nella parte anteriore c’era l’altare centrale e qui la figura del Sole, formata da una piastra d’oro tanto spessa da essere grossa due volte le altre piastre che ricoprivano le pareti.
La figura, di forma rotonda e circondata da raggi e fiamme di fuoco, era costituita da un pezzo unico, così come la rappresentano i pittori. Era talmente grande che occupava tutta la parte anteriore del tempio da una parete all’altra.
Su entrambi i lati dell’effige del Sole c’erano, come se fossero suoi figli, i corpi dei re defunti, imbalsamati, anche se nessuno sa come, in modo tanto perfetto da sembrare vivi.
Essi sedevano sui loro troni d’oro, che poggiavano a loro volta su travi d’oro. Le porte del tempio erano, come i portali, ricoperte d’oro. Sul lato esterno del tempio c’era poi un davanzale d’oro, fatto di tavole più lunghe di un cubito, che circondava come una corona tutto il tempio”.
In nessun altro luogo l’associazione tra il Sole e l’oro fu così ampiamente rimarcata come nelle regioni andine del Sudamerica.
Nei disegni rupestri d’età preistorica non è raro vedere delle figure umane con una ruota solare al posto della test.
Nell’astrologia il Sole viene considerato una luce fondamentale. Gli si attribuiscono qualità come virilità, colore, autorità ed è associato al Leone. In ogni segno zodiacale è la posizione del Sole a stabilire sotto quale segno una persona sia nata.
Di solito il Sole viene raffigurato o come il dio del Sole, cioè una corona di raggi attorno al capo, oppure come un disco circondato di raggi ma con il volto umano.
Come simbolico alchemico viene associato all’oro.
