CELTI
La scoperta della tomba di Hochdorf, ritrovata a Hochdorf an der Enz un villaggio a nord di Stoccarda in Germania, ha permesso di far luce su una parte della civiltà celtica del VI a.C., quella della cultura di Hallstatt.
La sepoltura era all’interno di un tumulo che aveva un diametro di circa sessanta metri e un’altezza di dieci, risalente alla prima metà del VI secolo a.C
Al centro vi era una camera costituita da due cassoni con le pareti rivestite di legno separati da circa cinquanta tonnellate di pietre, quello esterno misurava 7,4 × 7,5 m quello interno 4,7 × 4,7 m.
L’interno della tomba era tappezzato di stoffe, mentre sul pavimento c’era uno strato di fiori. Nel corso degli anni il soffitto, sorretto da travi di legno di quercia, crollò proteggendo la tomba dai saccheggi.
L’uomo sepolto nella tomba era adagiato su un divano di bronzo dallo schienale inciso con scene di danza, i piedi, costituiti da otto figure femminili , poggiavano su ruote.
Il defunto era quasi certamente di alto rango di circa quarant’anni e piuttosto alto per la media di quel tempo.
Sullo scheletro si sono conservati tracce dei vestiti e di un copricapo conico in corteccia di betulla, forse un simbolo del rango. Delle calzature a punta resta solo la decorazione in oro.
Numerosi gli oggetti d’oro ritrovati nella tomba. Sul corpo c’erano due fibule, una torque, un bracciale, una cintura e a parte un pugnale. Il corredo comprendeva inoltre un rasoio, un paio di forbici, tre ami e una faretra con le frecce.
Fu trovato un carro contente nove piatti e tre grandi vassoi di bronzo, un’ascia di ferro, una punta di lancia e un coltello. Son ben conservati anche i morsi, la bardatura dei cavalli e un pungolo.
Otto corni in corno bovino decorati con oro e bronzo e un altro grande corno lungo un metro di ferro erano appesi alla parete meridionale della tomba. Un cratere di bronzo importato dalla Grecia con una capienza di circa cinquecento litri con tracce d’idromele sul fondo. Il bordo era decorato da tre leoni, uno dei quali era una copia prodotta da artigiani celtici, all’interno era stata posta una coppa d’oro.
