Mussolini benito

Benito Mussolini nacque il 29 Luglio 1883 a Dovia di Predappio, in provincia di Forlì.

Sua madre era maestra elementare e suo padre, fabbro ferraio, era un’esponente socialista anticlericale. Dopo aver aver conseguito il diploma di maestro elementare, Benito Mussolini, si iscrive al Partito Socialista Italiano.

Per sottrarsi al servizio militare fugge in Svizzera, dove viene espulso nel 1940 per ripetuto attivismo antimilitarista e anticlericale.

Scampa alla pena prevista per la renitenza alla leva grazie ad un errore burocratico e compie il servizio militare nel reggimento dei bersaglieri. L’attività politica però continua incessante e viene imprigionato per aver sostenuto uno sciopero di braccianti. Ricopre la carica di segretario della Camera del Lavoro a Trento e dirige il quotidiano “L’avventura del lavoratore”, ma anche qui viene espulso dopo sei mesi.

Tornato a Forlì si accompagna con Rachele Guidi, da cui ebbe cinque figli: Edda, Vittorio, Bruno, Romano e Anna Maria. Nel 1915 viene celebrato il matrimonio civile mentre nel 1925 quello religioso.

Contemporaneamente dirige il settimanale “Lotta di classe” e diventa segretario della dirigenza socialista forlivese. Quando scoppia la guerra in Libia, Mussolini appare come l’uomo più adatto per il rinnovamento ideale e politico del partito.

Assunta la direzione del quotidiano “Avanti!” diventa il principale centro di riferimento delle insoddisfazioni del popolo italiano, schiacciato dalla crisi economica.

Allo scoppio della prima guerra mondiale Mussolini si dichiara neutrale. Tuttavia nel giro di pochi mesi, incomincia a maturare in lui il convincimento che l’opposizione alla guerra avrebbe finito per trascinare il PSI ad un ruolo marginale. Quindi sarebbe stato opportuno sfruttare l’occasione per riportare le masse sulla via del rinnovamento rivoluzionario.

Due giorni dopo aver pubblicato un articolo in cui dichiarava il mutamento delle sue opinioni si dimette dalla direzione del quotidiano socialista. Decide di fondare un suo giornale il “Popolo d’Italia”, ultranazionalista schierato su posizioni interventiste. Il popolo, a giudicare dal numero di vendite, è con lui.

In seguito a queste sue idee viene espulso anche dal partito e richiamato alle armi.

Dopo essere stato ferito durante un’esercitazione ritorna alla guida del suo giornale. Nel 1919 fonda i “Fasci combattenti”. All’inizio non riscuote gran interesse, ma via via che la situazione italiana va peggiorando il fascismo diventa una forza organizzata antisindacale e antisocialista, ottenendo così forti adesioni da parte dei settori agrari e industriali e dai ceti medi.

La “marcia su Roma” dell’ottobre 1922 apre a Mussolini le porte per formare il nuovo Governo.

Le elezioni del 1924, si svolgono sotto le intimidazioni fasciste, coraggiosamente denunciate dal deputato Matteotti, poi ucciso in un attentato. Nel gennaio del 1925 Mussolini diede inizio al regime dittatoriale. Nel 1929, perseguendo un fine politico, concluse la conciliazione con la Santa Sede.

Un’incessante propaganda comincia così ad esaltare le doti del dittatore in un’esaltazione della personalità tipica dei regimi totalitari.

Dopo la decisa presa di posizione contro l’annessione dell’Austria alla Germania nazista, Mussolini si getta alla conquista dell’Etiopia. Nel 1936 il Duce annuncia la fine della guerra e la nascita dell’Impero italiano d’Etiopia.

Il 3 agosto 1938 vengono promulgati i primi provvedimenti contro gli ebrei.

La conquista dell’Etiopia da una parte lo fa arrivare al punto più alto della sua fama in Patria ma dall’altra lo rende malvisto al Regno Unito, alla Francia e alla Società delle Nazioni. Mussolini inizia un progressivo avvicinamento alla Germania hitleriana, con la quale firma, nel 1939, il cosiddetto “Patto d’Acciaio”.

Nel 1940, benché impreparato militarmente, decide di entrare in guerra assumendo il comando supremo delle truppe operanti, nell’illusione di un rapido e facile trionfo.

Purtroppo le sorti si rivelano drammatiche per Mussolini e il fascismo. Dopo l’invasione anglo-americana della Sicilia e il suo ultimo colloquio con Hitler viene arrestato dal re Vittorio Emanuele III.

Trasferito sul Gran Sasso, il 12 settembre viene liberato dai paracadutisti tedeschi e portato in Germania, dove proclama la ricostituzione del Partito Repubblicano Fascista.

Mussolini attraversa periodi di evidente stanchezza, è ormai “alle dipendenze” di Hitler.

Si insedia a Salò, sede della nuova Repubblica Sociale Italiana (RSI). Sempre più isolato e privo di credibilità, quando gli ultimi reparti tedeschi vengono sconfitti, propone ai capi del C.L.N.A.I un passaggio di poteri, che viene respinto.

Travestito da militare tedesco, tenta la fuga assieme alla compagna Claretta Petacci, verso la Valtellina.

Viene riconosciuto a Dongo dai partigiani, successivamente arrestato e giustiziato il 28 Aprile 1945 a Giulino di Mezzegra (Como).
