Iside: le origini

Inizialmente Iside era adorata a Sebennytos, una città del Delta. La somiglianza di nomi tra la dea, che in Egitto fu detta Aset, Esa o Eset, e quelli di Ishtar, Astarte e Ashtoreth, suggerisce un’ origine comune tra queste dee unite da molte caratteristiche.

Il viaggio intrapreso da Iside per ritrovare Osiride trova precisi riferimenti nei misteri di quelle stesse dee.

Budge ipotizza che Iside e il resto del pantheon osiriaco fossero membri deificati di una famiglia umana. Indubbiamente, questa prassi non era ignota in Egitto. Pertanto è stato suggerito che il ciclo osiriaco di narrazioni faccia riferimento al primo re dell’Egitto unificato.

Iside, quindi, sarebbe stata la prima regina.

Altri studiosi avanzano l’idea che Iside fosse giunta dai deserti libici. Alcuni richiamano l’attenzione sulla vasta e duratura popolarità di cui la dea godette nelle regioni più meridionali dell’Egitto e suggeriscono un’origine nubiana.

Altri ancora sostengono che i miti sono semplici storie frutto dell’osservazione di cicli di eventi naturali, e che Iside sarebbe pertanto la terra fertile dei campi e Osiride il grano che viene falciato e “ucciso per risorgere l’anno successivo”. Non sono mancati studiosi che hanno collocato una comune origine delle mitologie mediorientali nel cuore della cultura di Altantide, il continente perduto.

Non ha molta importanza la provenienza della dea.

Potete “adottare” la versione che preferite: quella di Atlantide, della Nubia, dal limo del sacro fiume o dal brodo cosmico. La dea è ovunque: è solo il nome di una parte delle forze che hanno creato il nostro universo. Affermando la nostra divinità riconosciamo più ampiamente la sua.

Iside è un anelito all’amore divino, è un essere che accetta, trasmuta e ripaga i sentimenti dei suoi adoratori.
E’ la personificazione del dolore e dell’amore appassionato. E’ la divinità che perdona perché sa che cosa significa essere condannati, che libera perché sa che cosa significa essere prigionieri, Che ama profondamente come moglie, madre, sorella e amante. Che fa intimamente propri persino concetti astratti quali la bellezza, la verità, la conoscenza e la maestria artistica e che approva persino la guerra, quando questa sia necessaria e onorevolmente condotta.

L’appassionato amore di Iside per i suoi adoratori si colloca in piena antitesi rispetto alle più distanti divinità greche e romane.

Ovunque portino le passioni umane, Iside è presente … in attesa.

Sulla prua di navi che esplorano nuove rotte commerciali, nell’abbraccio degli amanti, nelle tenere cure dei genitori per i figli. Nelle sale della grande biblioteca di Alessandria e tra i sacerdoti e le sacerdotesse custodi della santità dei templi.

Iside non teme la forza, la conoscenza, l’esperienza o l’abilità dei suoi adoratori, non teme di essere esposta o sottoposta a qualsiasi esame.

Era così sicura della propria divinità che altre dee potevano condividerne i templi, ed era così generosa da accoglierle in una cappella entro i suoi sacri recinti.
