Montagna

La montagna è un simbolo legato alla centralità da cui partono tutte le energie della vita.

Viene, inoltre, associata al simbolismo verticale inteso come ascensione dal basso verso l’alto.

Espressione di stabilità e purezza si connette al concetto di “embrione” come partenza di ogni forma vitale.

Le cime si presentano come simboli dell’elevazione al di sopra del piano della quotidianità. L’asse del mondo viene variamente pensato come un monte situato nel grande Nord al di sotto della stella polare, attorno a cui ruotano le altre stelle.

La forma grafica del triangolo iniziatico è una rappresentazione simbolica del monte la cui base coincide con la terra, mondo della manifestazione corporea. La cima tocca il cielo, regno del non-manifesto è lo spazio intermedio, l’atmosfera, raccoglie il mondo della manifestazione sottile.

La montagna è, inoltre, simbolo della vicinanza alla divinità in quanto si eleva al di sopra dell’umanità.

Quelle considerate sacre e sedi di una rivelazione divina, Fuji, Yama, Elbrus, Sinai, Horeb, Tabor, Karmel, Garizim, Kailash, Olimpo, divengono spesso simbolo della potenza divina e sono perciò rappresentate nelle arti figurative.

Le ziqqurat dell’antica Mesopotamia, per esempio, erano montagne divine trasformate architettonicamente.

Nell’ antica Cina le montagne coperte di nubi simboleggiavano la terra ferma in cui a turno dominavano lo yin e lo yang.
