TESTI RELIGIOSI – – ANTICO EGITTO

All’interno dei sarcofagi dell’XI e XII dinastia (2055-1795) furono rinvenute più di mille “formule magiche”, molte delle quali derivavano dai precedenti Testi delle Piramidi.

Testi dei sarcofagi

Durante l’Antico Regno solo il faraone poteva diventare un dio, trasformandosi in Osiride al momento della morte.

Durante la XVIII dinastia prevalse invece un atteggiamento più aperto: a tutti era consentito l’accesso all’aldilà, in una forma o nell’altra.

Era quindi essenziale stabilire le speranze e i desideri del defunto, con preghiere, canti e incantesimi lasciandole scritte all’interno dei sarcofagi per evitare qualsiasi malinteso rispetto al luogo finale di riposo dell’anima.

Talvolta, come alternativa alla pittura dei sarcofagi, testi funebri scritti su papiri accompagnavano il defunto nella tomba o sulle pareti.

Spesso si trattava di vere e proprie “guide” per l’aldilà, come il Libro delle Due Vie.

I testi funebri divennero più comuni verso il Secondo Periodo Intermedio (1650-1550) e culminarono nel Libro dei Morti e nei Libri dell’Aldilà. Negli Scritti della Camera Nascosta, nel Libro dei Cancelli, nel Libro delle Caverne e in altre collezioni minori. Maggior diffusione ebbero durante il Nuovo Regno (1550-1069 a.C:) specialmente nelle tombe della Valle dei Re.

Nella tomba di Ramses VI fu trovato il Libro dei Cancelli all’ingresso del livello superiore seguito dal Libro delle Caverne e, più vicino al sarcofago, dal Libro di ciò che è nel Duat.

La piramide di Unas, vicino a Giza, contiene alcune delle iscrizioni più notevoli, incluso il testo della Saggezza di Ptah-Hotep; le iscrizioni di questa piramide documentano il mito di Osiride e spingono il racconto mitologico un passo avanti:

“Oh re, tu sei compagno di Orione
… possa tu attraversare la vicina Via Lattea
… e possa tu andare nel luogo dove è Orione …”.

Questa formula doveva accompagnare il re defunto alla costellazione di Orione affinchè diventasse una stella tra le altre.
