Disco solare - Antico Egitto

Il disco Solare, fiancheggiato da due grandi ali multicolori, è il simbolo di Edfu e si trova in tutti i santuari dell’Egitto.

Scolpito sui portali, aveva il compito di allontanare i “cattivi” dai luoghi sacri. Le sue ali erano quelle del dio del cielo, raffigurato come falco, unite dal dio sole.

Per alcuni egittologi rappresentava le due metà del paese, una sorta di stemma.

Sin dai primi albori il disco alato ha rappresentato il dio regnante nel suo essere sole visibile, le ali indicavano che egli s’identificava con il falco Horo.

Il disco alato e il nome del faraone sono inscindibilmente uniti simboleggiando l’immagine del sovrano e nello stesso tempo di Ra e Horo.

Tutti e tre uniti in una specie di trinità della dominazione solare e regale.

Il disco solare con due urei e ali di falco è il simbolo di Horo di Behedet (Tell el Balamun) dove ebbe inizio il culto del dio che in seguito ebbe la sua sede permanente a Edfu.
