Leggenda della Sacra Pipa

Pte San Win e’ la donna che portò ai popoli della prateria il dono più grande : la sacra pipa e i riti ad essa collegati.

La leggenda racconta di come un capo scelse i due più forti , coraggiosi guerrieri della tribù e li mandò nella foresta alla ricerca di selvaggina .

I due giovani si incamminarono verso le foreste . Andarono prima verso nord , ma non trovando nulla si diressero a ovest senza successo . Passarono i giorni e non avevano ancora trovato nulla per sfamare il popolo affamato .

Improvvisamente scorsero una sagoma in avvicinamento tra le fronde, credettero fosse un bisonte e si nascosero tra l’erba alta , sottovento per non farsi individuare dal presunto bisonte.

La sagoma si avvicinò , e con grande stupore videro una donna, una bellissima donna , che si avvicinò come se stesse fluttuando nell’ aria .

I giovani si accorsero che poteva vederli .

Uno dei due guerrieri disse : “ È la donna più bella che abbia mai visto , voglio possederla “ , l’altro guerriero gli rispose : “ Come puoi pensare a una cosa del genere ? Non vedi che non è umana cammina nell’aria “ .

Il primo guerriero non ascoltò , allungò una mano per toccarla e improvvisamente i due furono avvolti da una densa foschia che quando si diradò del primo guerriero non rimasero che ossa e cenere .

L’altro guerriero si alzò in piedi e la donna parlò .

Disse queste parole:
“Vai dal tuo capo, digli di costruire una tenda, la cui entrata guardi verso est , sul posto d’onore sarà cosparsa della salvia . Io arriverò al villaggio all’alba “ .

Il giovane guerriero corse più veloce del vento , una volta giunto al villaggio raccontò al capo ciò che aveva visto . Raccontò ciò che la misteriosa donna gli disse. Giunse l’alba e con il primo sole del mattino arrivò la donna misteriosa .

Aveva con se un fagotto di pelle, entrò nel tipi e disse :

“ Il Grande Spirito e’ molto contento del popolo Lakota , talmente contento che ha mandato me , Donna del Bufalo Bianco , per comunicarvi che siete stati prescelti per portare la sacra pipa , il dono più grande .

Sollevò la sacra pipa al cielo e disse : “ Pregate Wakan Tanka , il Creatore. Questa è la sacra pipa che vi ha donato . Essa non rappresenta solo un simbolo sacro, essa vive ed è potente.

Come ogni cosa proveniente dal Grande Mistero, essa è impregnata di esso . Essa è una creatura , portatrice di vita e di morte . Non tutti sono chiamati dal Grande Spirito ad essere portatori della sacra pipa .

Chi porta la pipa segue le tradizioni e le cerimonie ad essa legate , ha una grande responsabilità nei riguardi dei suoi fratelli e delle sue sorelle , e della Grande Madre Terra , sulla quale vive .

La sacra pipa dona al suo portatore la capacità di vedere. Il suo legame con il Grande Tutto mette nella condizione di sincronizzare la parte più profonda di se’ al Tutto . Se ne accetterete la responsabilità potrà essere la vostra guida, ma …se portata senza riguardo potrà essere il vostro peggior nemico “.

La Donna del Bisonte Bianco ( o del Bufalo Bianco ) consegnò la sacra pipa a Toro che Cammina In Piedi , insegnandogli le preghiere e le cerimonie relative alla pipa.

La Donna del Bisonte Bianco disse :

Quando pregate il Grande Spirito dovete usare la pipa durante la cerimonia. Quando siete affamati togliete la sacra pipa dalla custodia , mettetela all’aria , i bisonti arriveranno. I bambini saranno felici , le donne saranno felici , i vecchi saranno felici , il popolo sarà felice . Tutti mangeranno.

Ricordate sempre che la terra e’ vostra madre e durante le occasioni speciali vi decorerete con i colori di vostra madre.

Di nero, di rosso, di marrone e di bianco : i colori del bisonte .

Ricordatevi che questa pipa e’ anche una pipa della pace , la fumerete in tutte le cerimonie, la fumerete per i trattati di pace.

Essa introdurrà pensieri di pace nelle vostre menti e nei vostri cuori .
Se la userete per pregare il Grande Spirito e vostra madre , la terra , sarete sicuri che riceverete ciò che chiederete .

Da questa leggenda si evince che è una donna , Donna del Bisonte Bianco ,a essere il catalizzatore tra il divino e l’umano, creando un ponte tra cielo e terra .
