Iside Hededyt

Iside-Hededyt era una dea scorpione venerata in Nubia in diversi santuari.

La troviamo nel vestibolo del tempio rupestre di Bet el Uali (regno di Ramses II), ad Amada, Ellesiya, Dakka, su una stele di Buhen e in Egitto a Gebel Silsila.

Era raffigurata con il simbolo dello scorpione sul capo che pareva scendere verso la fronte ed era chiamata “Iside la Grande” , a volte “Signora del Cielo o ancora “Madre del Dio”.

Al Museo di Vienna la stele numero quarantasei ci porta a conoscenza del legame con la profilassi dei rettili velenosi ed il potere che la dea aveva su di essi.

Il nome Hededyt è citato nei Testi dei Sarcofagi, dove la dea compare per la prima volta.

In questo testo sacro, come nel Libro dei Morti, la dea non è ancora assimilata a Iside.

Troviamo l’esistenza di un clero di Iside-Hededyt, a Edfu, a partire dall’età saitica. Non è casuale la scelta di questo luogo che è la continuazione di una tradizione consolidata nella parte meridionale dell’Egitto e della Nubia.

A Edfu un calendario liturgico segnala che la festa di Iside-Hededyt “Madre del Dio, residente ad Edfu” era celebrato nel tempio il secondo giorno del quarto mese di Shemu (estate).

Nell’epoca tolemaica sembra che Iside-Hededyt sia in qualche modo legata al mito solare.

In un inno a Iside Hathor, inciso sullo stipite sud del passaggio del cortile di Edfu, definisce la dea universale come “il trono di Ra sulla mani del quale egli è uscito in questo suo nome di Iside-Hededyt, figlia di Ra”.

La dea, intesa come “trono di Ra”, viene anche definita “la sovrana della città che protegge suo figlio perché è il trono di Ra-Harakhti dalle origini fino ad oggi”.

Iside-Hededyt era associata alla purificazione e alla fumigazione, inoltre era assimilata alla dea Seshat.
